Jackson
Analysis & Report

I was contracted by Blackstone Media to provide UX recommendations for their project with their client Jackson Warewashing Systems. From my analysis, which included analysis of usability testing data and a heuristic evaluation of their client’s site, I provided a list of user insights, design recommendations stemming from those insights, and a simplified conceptual model of Jackson products. Blackstone Media utilized this information in creating their design.

Description

In my analysis, I found that participants almost always began their tasks from the home page and recommended that the home page become a starting point for each task flow. Blackstone allowed users to begin finding Jackson products by category immediately on the home page. On the previous site, users had to follow a link to the product page instead.

Participants also sought out products based on specific features, e.g., how many racks a machine could wash per hour. I recommended that Blackstone create a comparison feature, so that users could see which product among several possibilities would best meet their needs.

On the site’s previous version, users had to find a dealer (through whom purchases are made) from one of several pages which contained only lists of contact information. In my analysis, I found that users were often unable to find dealer information relevant to them that was actually available on the site. Furthermore, distinguishing between sales, dealers, and other contacts was confusing. I recommended Blackstone simplify and clarify the process of finding a dealer.
